CITO, based in the Netherlands, is one of the world’s leading testing and assessment companies. Measuring and monitoring human potential has been our core competence since 1968. We work for educational institutions, governments and companies, with learning performance and performance in the workplace as our focal points. Our work builds on the latest developments in ICT and Psychometric research.

Our position in the world

CITO was founded in 1968 by the Dutch government, unique in the world as a national institute for educational measurement. CITO became fully privatised in 1999. With its reputation firmly established nationally, it has now also gained international recognition and has access to numerous committees and consultative bodies throughout the world. At present CITO has two subsidiary companies: one in Germany (CITO Deutschland GmbH) and in the USA (CITO USA Inc.).

International activities :

• CITO consultants have already worked together with the examination- and assessment centres of ministries in 30 countries. They have helped to make education in these countries more accessible and have built up test expertise
• Our products are finding their way to the international market. The two subsidiary companies in Germany and the USA sell the Pyramid method and a bi-lingual language test for 5-7-year olds. In Japan the Pyramid method is also being introduced by a Japanese company
• An increasing number of companies and governmental institutions have already benefited from CITO's expertise in measuring work-related competences and achievements
